Composite Bonding in Hanwell, West London
Chipped front teeth, edges worn flat, a small gap that has always bothered you — rebuilt with hand-layered composite, at £350 a tooth, at Sparkle Dental in Hanwell, London W7. Two minutes from Hanwell station on the Elizabeth line, one stop from West Ealing. Most cases are examined, planned and finished within a visit or two.
What composite bonding actually fixes
Composite bonding is tooth-coloured resin, built up on the tooth by hand and set with a light. Nothing is cut away in most cases, and nothing is sent to a laboratory. That makes it the right answer for a specific set of problems, and the wrong answer for others, which is worth knowing before you book anything.
It works well for a corner chipped off a front tooth, for upper edges that have worn flat and uneven over years, for one tooth that sits slightly short of its neighbour, and for a small gap between the two front teeth. It also works well as the finishing step after whitening or after Invisalign, once the teeth are in the position and the shade you want them to stay.
Chips and fractures
A corner lost to a fork, a kerb or a hockey stick. Usually one tooth, usually one appointment, matched to the shade of the tooth either side of it.
Worn and uneven edges
Years of grinding or acid wear leave the upper front teeth short, flat and slightly translucent at the tips. Rebuilding the edges gives back the length and the shape — but only after I have worked out why they wore down, because otherwise it happens again.
Small gaps
A narrow space between the front teeth closed by widening the two teeth either side rather than moving them. Reversible in principle, and the right call when the gap is small. If it is wide, aligners first will give you a better result than resin.
£350 per tooth, and what that covers
Composite bonding in Hanwell is £350 per tooth. That is the fee, not a ‘from’ price, and it includes the digital design, the clinical photographs, the bonding appointment itself, the polish, and a review visit a few weeks later once it has settled in and you have lived with it.
Most front-tooth cases are four to six teeth, because the edges have to be designed as a set for the result to look like teeth rather than like repairs. A single chip is a single tooth. You will get the exact total in writing at your assessment, with the price fixed for three months, before you commit to anything.
0% finance through Tabeo is available for up to 12 months, subject to status. There is an illustrative calculator on the homepage.
I publish the per-tooth fee because I would rather you knew the real number before you sat down than discovered it at the end of an hour. It is not the cheapest bonding in west London and it is not meant to be — what you are paying for is the design, the time and the dentist doing the work.
How a bonding case runs in Hanwell
- ✓The Full Assessment — a full examination, clinical photographs, a 3D scan, and your options on screen with me for the whole hour. You leave with a written plan. £95, credited against treatment. No treatment on the day.
- ✓The design — I design the new edges digitally from your photographs and scan, so the shape is decided before any resin goes near a tooth.
- ✓The bonding appointment — one longer visit for most cases. Teeth cleaned and isolated, composite layered by hand, shaped, cured and polished. Usually comfortable, and often with no local anaesthetic needed at all.
- ✓The bite check — before you leave, I check how the new edges meet the lower teeth. This is the step that decides whether bonding lasts years or chips in months, and it is the step most often skipped.
- ✓The review — a few weeks later, to adjust anything that needs adjusting and to photograph the finished result if you are happy for me to.
Two visits plus a review is the normal shape of a Hanwell case. That is why Hanwell is set up for this work and not for Invisalign or porcelain — it is work that is finished in a visit or two.

Composite bonding for Ealing, Southall and West London
Hanwell station is on the Elizabeth line. Going east it is one stop to West Ealing and two to Ealing Broadway; going west it is one stop to Southall. For most of W5, W7, W13 and UB1 that is a short hop, which matters when a case runs over two visits and a review rather than one.
By car, Hanwell sits just off the Uxbridge Road (A4020), with the A40 and the North Circular a few minutes away. Ask about parking when you book and we will tell you exactly where to put the car.

Why I bond the way I do
My first degree was in dental materials engineering, before dentistry. That is an unusual route in and it changed how I think about composite: it is not one material, it is a set of resins with different handling, different shrinkage and different polish retention, and the one you reach for should depend on the tooth in front of you.
In practice that means layering rather than bulk-filling, so the finished edge has the same gradient of opacity a real tooth has — more solid in the body, more translucent at the tip. It means checking the bite before you stand up. And it means saying no when bonding is not the right answer, which is the part that takes the longest to learn.
I am a Finalist for Young Dentist of the Year in 2024 and 2026, GDC registered (No. 290643), and I work in a BDA Good Practice. You can check my registration on the GDC register in about ten seconds, and I would rather you did.
What bonding will not do
Composite is not porcelain. It picks up stain faster, particularly from coffee, red wine and tobacco, it needs an annual polish with me, and it will want refreshing or replacing after several years rather than lasting indefinitely. Typical life is three to five years with good care, and I will tell you if your bite makes that shorter.
It will not whiten. Composite holds the shade it is placed at, so if you want whiter teeth the whitening comes first and the bonding is matched to the new shade afterwards.
It will not straighten teeth. Resin can disguise a small rotation; it cannot move a tooth. If the teeth are crowded or the gap is wide, aligners first will give a better and more conservative result, and I will route you to Cookham for that rather than bond over the problem.
And it is not for everyone. Heavy grinding, active gum disease or untreated decay all need dealing with first. If that is the situation, the assessment will say so.
The Full Assessment — £95, credited
Your first visit is a clinical appointment, not a sales meeting. A full examination, clinical photographs, a 3D scan, and your options on screen with me for the whole hour. You leave with a written plan and the price fixed for three months. Nothing is done to your teeth on the day and there is no obligation to go ahead.
It is £95, credited in full against whatever you decide to have done. I charge for it because an hour of a dentist’s time, a scan and a written plan has a real cost, and I would rather put that cost on the invoice than hide it inside the treatment fee. If you would rather not spend anything before you have met me, send photographs and we will talk through your options first, at no cost.
Longer cases are seen in Cookham
Invisalign, porcelain veneers, implants and full smile design are staged over months and need longer, more frequent appointments. Those are done at St Anne’s House Dental Practice in Cookham, Maidenhead, where I have worked longest. If your case belongs there, I will say so at your assessment rather than start the wrong treatment in the right postcode.
Composite bonding in Maidenhead and Cookham →Questions from Hanwell patients
How much is composite bonding in Hanwell?
£350 per tooth, including the digital design, clinical photographs, the bonding appointment and a review visit. Most front-tooth cases are four to six teeth. You get the exact total in writing at your assessment with the price fixed for three months, and 0% finance through Tabeo is available for up to 12 months, subject to status.
How many visits will it take?
For most cases: the Full Assessment, one longer bonding appointment, and a review a few weeks later. A single chip can sometimes be done in one appointment after the assessment. Larger cases are occasionally split over two bonding visits so the design can be checked in between.
Does composite bonding hurt?
It is usually comfortable and often needs no local anaesthetic at all, because in most cases nothing is drilled — the resin is added to the tooth rather than cut into it. If a tooth is sensitive or a small amount of reshaping is needed, local anaesthetic is available and you only have to ask.
How long does composite bonding last?
Typically three to five years with good care, then a refresh or replacement rather than a permanent fix. Your bite, your grinding habit and how much coffee, red wine and tobacco it meets all change that figure. I will give you an honest estimate for your teeth at the assessment.
Will it stain?
Composite picks up stain faster than enamel or porcelain, mostly at the margins. I recommend an annual polish with me to keep it looking fresh. Heavy coffee, red wine or tobacco will shorten the time between refreshes, and I would rather say that upfront than afterwards.
Should I whiten first?
If you want whiter teeth, yes — always. Composite holds whatever shade it is placed at and does not respond to whitening, so we whiten first and match the bonding to the new shade. Doing it the other way round means replacing the bonding to match.
Can you close a gap between my front teeth?
Often, yes, by widening the two teeth either side with resin rather than moving them. That works well for a narrow gap. For a wide gap, aligners first will give a better and more conservative result, and I will tell you if that is the case — aligner treatment is done at my Cookham practice.
Do you see patients from Ealing and Southall?
Yes. Hanwell station is one stop from West Ealing and Southall and two from Ealing Broadway on the Elizabeth line, so most of W5, W7, W13 and UB1 is a short journey. Patients also come from Northfields, Greenford, Brentford and Acton.
